Social Media Management: 2019 OBX Taste of the Beach

We recently completed a social media management project with the Outer Banks Restaurant Association (OBRA), and the results were outstanding!

The OBX Taste of the Beach is an annual 4 day foodie's dream. Restaurants of all kinds participate in this culinary event. From Tapas Crawls to Beer Yoga-there is something for everyone to enjoy. For 20 years, this event has been the largest fundraiser for the Outer Banks Restaurant Association. The event has grown into one of the most popular food events in the region and, without a doubt, has an incredible economic impact on the Outer Banks in a "shoulder-season". The event has grown to welcome thousands of people to the Outer Banks. In addition to marketing, planning and executing the 4 day weekend, OBRA hosts the three main events; a welcome party, The BBQ Showdown and The Grand Tasting.

This year, OBRA Marketing Manager Quinn Capps, reached out to EMA to assist with the social media promotion of the event.

Project Scope:

Grow social audiences, gain more followers and increase the reach on Facebook and Instagram with the ultimate goal if increasing event attendance.
Methods included:
-Sharp, high quality imagery, representing all events
-Consistent messaging with strong calls-to-action
-Social media ad management, with specific demographic targeting and goals of maximizing the reach with low costs-per-click

The Results

-Increased attendance at the more than 70 events
-Increase in the targeted demographic following on all social media channels
-A SOLD OUT BBQ showdown for the first time
-A consistent, clean and well organized social presence
-Social Ads with incredible reach, high click through rates and low cost per click

The Numbers:

-Increase in website traffic
-Traffic from Instagram up more than 500%
-Facebook traffic up more than 70%
-Large increase in new website visitors as well as time spent on the website.

More than 100% increase in followers, engagement and reach on all social platforms.
